Hello and welcome to Gwyn's Guitar!
What the Site is About:
Gwyn's Guitar is a site dedicated to helping you in your journey with guitar. If you are trying to tackle music theory and advance in your guitar playing, this site if for you! If you find that when you get on the internet you find yourself bogged down by overwhelming loads of information that are scattered and confusing, the goal of this site is to clear all that up! This site is not aimed at a specific age group or skill level, but the material here would probably be considered as more beginner-intermediate level
An Introduction:
I
have been playing guitar for about five years, and for several of those years, I fell into the confused, frustrated category that couldn't make sense out of music theory and didn't know how to master it or move on from the basic chords. Being self-taught didn't help. I gradually progressed, however, and began playing regularly for a church group. I took my guitar wherever I could, camping trips, retreats and other events. Getting to where I am at right now has been a longer process than it should have been, and that is the major reason I formed this site.
Why This Site?
I made this site to help people like me to get out of the basics and into the real meat, so to speak, of guitar playing. I know the struggles I had and that is the biggest reason I made this site. I didn't want people to waste time in confusion, I wanted them to be able to get clear and concise answers to some of their questions. I am sure there are many of you out there better than I am (that's not too hard) but I believe that I might be able to help some people too and so I'm going to try! That is the purpose of this site. It is my sole motive, and my greatest inspiration.
What This Site is For:
On this site I will address several important aspects of music theory and technique, including but not limited to: basic music theory, scales, tablature, finger-picking patterns, riffs, finger-style techniques, improvisation, movable chords and more. The site will do this using videos and diagrams clearly showing you how to immediately implement these things in your guitar playing. I will be posting chord and lyrics
sheets as well to give you immediate access to correct versions of classic rock, folk, country, hymns, contemporary Christian music and more.
How To Use This Site:
On the right and left sidebars, there will be links to other posts located on this website. I have done this in order to counter some of the unpleasant blog-effects and provide access to the individual articles without making you search around for it. The lists of posts are short now, but they will be much longer soon. I am constantly working on the site, so there will be some minor changes and rearrangements, but everything will be accessible and easy to get to.
Note: Don't hesitate to print or copy anything here for private use. External posts, (such as links to other people's tablature, posts or videos) are not under my control or authority and may be copyrighted. Anything here that I have composed myself may be taken, however. Comments, questions, suggestions, criticisms and song cover requests are all welcome, so don’t hesitate! I may not be able to do what you ask, but I will always try!
